Greetings, earthlings!

More than 2 months after the wedding, me and my wife were thrilled to discover that she is pregnant with our first child. Since then, we had lots of weird and funny experiences together and I enjoyed sharing them with some of our closest friends. Along the way, I suddenly had this wild idea of turning them into comic strips so we could share our tale with more people.

With my wife’s motivations, I did just that. Writing and drawing My Wife Is Pregnant is really a great learning experience for me. My wife is both my #1 fan and #1 critic. That’s definitely a good thing for a first-timer like me. With a little help from my friends (Teardrop Cordez at StephFaith Bautista – yey!), I got to finish a few strips. Actually, my wife even assisted me in inking a few panels because I am terribly bad at using rulers hahaha! I then posted the comics on my Facebook and made a Tumblr account for it just for fun.

Currently, I already have 11 pages of thumbnails (plus a cover concept) on my sketchbook. I’m hoping to work on them one step at a time. The goal is to complete at least 20 finished pages (I have 3 – 17 more to go!) and then eventually release them as a compiled comic book on one of the upcoming conventions. I believe this year’s November Komikon (or Summer Komikon 2013, at least) should be a good target. Besides, I think our baby’s birth should be the book’s main highlight. I want that to happen first and I want the experience captured on the strips as well.

Comic Strip

Practicing for my first comic strip. It will be about Joy's pregnancy.. Hoping to finish it soon :)

Monthly Checkups

We had the chance to visit Dra. Caras last week for Joy's monthly check-up. She showed us our baby thru the ultrasound machine and we found out he/she already has arms and legs.. I stood in silence, completely awed by the sight of our future child.. Plus the doctor said our baby is "malikot" and "active" already :)

Kakanakana

MPRS Christmas Party. Cowboy attire for all but we both didn't have cowboy clothes. We decided to have a little fun by dressing up as Indians. I went to Google for an idea and Joy rushed the sewing by hand until we made it to the venue.

Who would've guessed? We won Best in Costume in the couple category hahaha! I guess it pays to be different! :)

Anyway, we won a box of Choco Pie for it :)

Costume Party at the Insti

We attended our first costume party together last December 16 at the DPIR. It was her first time to attend one. She dressed up as a witch and I, being the superhero geek, went as Captain America.

 We both won 2nd place in the male and female category. YEY!

Naturally, we were happy to win. A little surprised too since we just rushed to make our costumes the night before the event. We even arrived late at the party because we had to finish her hat, her dress, her broomstick and my shield haha!

We enjoyed the party and, with a baby on the way, we think it might take a while before we can do things like this again :)

She's been asking for weird food lately (halo halo in the evening, Snow Bear candies in the morning, etc) and she's a bit cranky haha..
